Scopello and the Zingaro Natural Park are the closest points of interest.
Scopello rises on the western coast of Sicily and is a fraction of the municipality of Castellammare del Golfo. It has just over a hundred inhabitants, but in summer the delightful village is populated by tourists and its streets fill with life.
The history of this village is very ancient. The first finds that attest to the presence of man in these lands were found in the Uzzo cave, inside the Zingaro Nature Reserve.
Excavations carried out in the 70s brought to light one of the most interesting Mesolithic necropolises in all of Italy. The first inhabitants, who arrived here from Asia Minor, were the Elymians, who also founded Erice and Segesta and settled on these coasts.
Throughout the area around Scopello, remains have been found that testify to the passage of very ancient civilizations such as the columns found in the bay of Guidaloca and the ancient Tonnara. In fact, it seems that the mythological city of Cetaria arose on the current site of the Tonnara.
